If you are looking to buy a high-mileage BMW make sure you factor in the cost of replacing these. They are notorious for cracking at around 100,000 miles, especially in the Texas heat. Last summer I had the SMG pump replaced. The original pump lasted over 100,000 miles, and the next one should too. This is a very expensive procedure, and is very common on M3s in the south. In the last year I have also had new brake rotors, pads and brake fluid put on the car. First time they have ever been replaced! The next set will last another 100,000 miles. Details: My 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i manual 6 speed is for sale. This is a black on black car, with window tint done. It has the Sports and Premium packages, the only thing not in this car is the Navigation system. Convertible top is fully automatic, no latches, just hold a button, and 8 seconds later, the top is down. Aux In port for iPods and iPhones and other MP3 players. I bought the car in January of 2005, it had 5000 miles on it. It now has 96K. I now have a wife and a daughter, and I am moving out of state soon, so this car, unfortunately, must go. I´ve fought it as long as I could.This car has been exceptionally reliable. The only repairs done were a leaking head gasket which was replaced, at the same time I had spark plugs, transmission fluid, all services were done, etc. The only other thing is the coolant reservoir cracked and I had that replaced by BMW. All preventative maintenance is done. I just put new tires and brakes on it this past summer, and have only driven it about 300 miles since then. I replaced the floormats with BMW floormats this past summer also. The AC gets cold fast, and the heater is great, for the few days a year you might need it. The convertible top has never had leaks, always been treated with Aerospace 303 cleaner and protectant. I have only ever hand washed this car, and done full details with only 3M products and a Porter Cable random orbital buffer. The interior is cared for with Lexol leather products and Aerospace 303 vinyl/rubber protectant. Water beads up on the exterior as good as any new car.
