It is a ´97 BMW 528i and I believe it has 190k miles on it. Power seats and windows. New cooling system ($1200-$1500) replaced about 1.5 years ago (water pump, radiator, hoses, etc). New ignition system replaced about 2.5 years ago ($1000-$1200). New pads and rotors replaced about 4 months ago. Two tires replaced about a year ago and the other two about two years before that (spare is new too). Headlights replaced about 2 years ago because the old lenses were oxidized ($400). Air conditioner was just refilled at the end of the year last year. New front struts about 8 months ago.There are some things that I know are wrong with it, most of which have to do with sensors needing replaced and they aren´t cheap, so I didn´t do it.1) Leather seats are cracking and peeling. Seat covers can make it so you don´t have to see it.2) Windshield washer resivoir or hose has a crack in it, so it doesn´t hold the washer fluid.3) Original stereo was removed before I bought it. I installed a DVD stereo, but it is going out, so that would need replaced. I have a spare CD player I can give you so you have a stereo.4) The passenger side lower ball joint needs replaced. About $200 for the part itself.5) There is an oil leak somewhere and I believe it´s just the drain pan. I add roughly a quart about every month. So, it´s not bad, but not ideal either.6) The worst thing is the transmission. Sometimes it has to be shifted manually but moving the shifter into 3 and back into drive. It´s more of a minor annoyance than anything really. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. It needs new wheel sensors. The wheel sensors are not telling the automatic transmission to shift on occasion. It didn´t really bother me, so I never spent the money to fix it.As far as being sound, I wouldn´t hesitate to drive it to California. It just depends on what you want to fix and what you don´t. Mileage is obviously high, but my mom has a two year newer car, same exact model, with another 30k on it than mine has. I have no problem negotiating the price, but do have my limits. It´s more of a minor annoyance than anything really. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. It needs new wheel sensors. The wheel sensors are not telling the automatic transmission to shift on occasion. It didn´t really bother me, so I never spent the money to fix it.As far as being sound, I wouldn´t hesitate to drive it to California. It just depends on what you want to fix and what you don´t. Mileage is obviously high, but my mom has a two year newer car, same exact model, with another 30k on it than mine has. I have no problem negotiating the price, but do have my limits. If it doesn´t sell, I will likely part it out. Unfortunately, I can sell it for parts for more than I can get for the whole car itself. Seems silly. I try to drive it occasionally, just to keep it from sitting, but I purchased a newer vehicle just over a month ago and have no need for this one. Depending on what the car sells for, if it is pretty close to asking price, I will take it and have it professionally detailed at my own expense. Details: I have a 1997 BMW 528i up for grabs. Burgundy exterior, with tan interior.The car is not perfect and has a few problems, but is a great cheap car. It is a ´97 BMW 528i and I believe it has 190k miles on it. Power seats and windows. New cooling system ($1200-$1500) replaced about 1.5 years ago (water pump, radiator, hoses, etc). New ignition system replaced about 2.5 years ago ($1000-$1200). New pads and rotors replaced about 4 months ago. Two tires replaced about a year ago and the other two about two years before that (spare is new too). Headlights replaced about 2 years ago because the old lenses were oxidized ($400). Air conditioner was just refilled at the end of the year last year. New front struts about 8 months ago.There are some things that I know are wrong with it, most of which have to do with sensors needing replaced and they aren´t cheap, so I didn´t do it.1) Leather seats are cracking and peeling. Seat covers can make it so you don´t have to see it.2) Windshield washer resivoir or hose has a crack in it, so it doesn´t hold the washer fluid.3) Original stereo was removed before I bought it. I installed a DVD stereo, but it is going out, so that would need replaced. I have a spare CD player I can give you so you have a stereo.4) The passenger side lower ball joint needs replaced. About $200 for the part itself.5) There is an oil leak somewhere and I believe it´s just the drain pan. I add roughly a quart about every month. So, it´s not bad, but not ideal either.6) The worst thing is the transmission. Sometimes it has to be shifted manually but moving the shifter into 3 and back into drive. Details: Spring is here!I´ve had this car for over 8 years, and have maintained it WELL, have put over $10,000 into it for major maintenance, not including oil changes, which have been done regularly, and using only synthetic oil since the car hit 100K. It has about 120K on it now, with a BRAND NEW clutch, and is running like a DREAM. The only major issue is that it has a crack in the catalytic converter-which doesn´t even need immediate attention, so sadly, i must part with this car.Part cost on a catalytic converter is about $1100. There are a few minor knicks and scratches on the body, and the interior, but overall great condition for a 12 year old car.
